OnePlus has unveiled its latest addition to the Nord series with the launch of OnePlus Nord 3. This smartphone continues to build on the Nord brand's reputation for excellence. With its revised design and powerful chipset, the Nord 3 aims to bring back the laurels to the Nord name. While it does succeed to a certain extent, there are some limitations. In this review, we will explore the features, design, display, software, and performance of the OnePlus Nord 3.

Price & Availability:

The OnePlus Nord 3 Lite is available in two variants. The base variant offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, priced at ₹33,999. There is also a variant with 16GB of RAM and an extended 256GB of internal storage, available at ₹37,999.

OnePlus Nord 3 sports a refreshed design language, similar to the Nord CE 3 Lite. The device features flat edges and a camera casing that sets it apart from its predecessors. Holding the Nord 3 provides a premium feel that has been missing in previous Nord devices. The glass sandwich design encased in a metal frame makes the device a delight to hold. The flat edges also offer a better grip. OnePlus has taken a step away from the curved design language, and the result is impressive.

The Nord 3 retains the fan-favorite alert slider, placed on the top right edge, which works flawlessly. Additionally, OnePlus has added some new features, including an IR blaster, which can be found on the Nord CE 3 Lite and the OnePlus 11R. Although the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack might disappoint some, the device compensates with high-quality buttons, including the volume rockers and power button. The USB Type-C charging port is located at the bottom, along with the SIM card tray that can accommodate 2 nano SIMs. The Misty Green color variant, though initially unimpressive, grows on you. However, the black color variant is a safer choice. It's worth noting that the back of the device tends to attract smudges, but this can be managed by using a case. The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection ensures minor scratches are taken care of.

OnePlus Nord 3 features a stunning 6.74-inch AMOLED display with HDR10+ resolution. The device boasts minimal bezels, and the front camera is placed at the center, completing the sleek look. The screen quality is impressive, as OnePlus has a reputation for delivering great displays. The display is bright, with accurate color reproduction and sharpness. The black levels are favorable, and the larger screen size allows for easy reading. With HDR10+ support, the content appears vibrant and punchy. The device offers a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, providing a snappy experience. The dynamic refresh rate feature allows the phone to switch between 40Hz and 120Hz, enhancing the overall experience. The in-display fingerprint sensor works efficiently, and the always-on display feature is utilitarian, even under direct sunlight.

The OnePlus Nord 3 comes preloaded with Android 13 and Oxygen OS 13.1. The Oxygen OS offers a clean and minimalist operating system, staying true to the OnePlus tradition. Unlike other devices that bombard users with unexpected advertisements, the Nord 3 provides a seamless user experience with minimal interruptions. The device includes a few OnePlus apps such as the store, community, and Netflix. While the Oxygen OS provides a polished interface, some users may have reservations about the app icon designs and animations in version 13.1. However, customization options are available, allowingusers to personalize themes, colors, font styles, wallpapers, and fingerprint animations. The drop-down menu on the Nord 3 has a tasteful adaptation of the stock Google OS, adding a OnePlus twist. The device also offers additional features like Omoji, a virtual avatar, and a convenient shelf for quick access to favorite apps. OnePlus remains committed to delivering future updates, ensuring that the Nord 3 will stay up to date for the next two years.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is powered by the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000 5G processor, an upgrade from its predecessor. This chipset delivers impressive performance, allowing for smooth multitasking and resource-intensive applications. The device comes with 16GB of RAM, which can be expanded by an additional 12GB through RAM extension. This feature is particularly beneficial for gaming and other resource-intensive tasks. With 256GB of internal storage, there is ample space to store files, apps, and media.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is a worthy competitor in the premium smartphone market, priced at ₹33,999. It offers a refined design, a stunning display, and impressive performance powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor. The Oxygen OS provides a clean and customizable user experience, and the device is backed by OnePlus' commitment to future updates. While there are some limitations, such as the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack, the OnePlus Nord 3 delivers on its promise of being a premium smartphone option.
